I remember the days of sitting in my closet complaining to God wondering why my situation never changed. I was so upset with God. I mean, I accepted Him as my savior, I was serving in the church, I was in Bible college – doing any and everything I could to live a life that was pleasing to Him; how dare He not answer my prayers.
The problem was, I wasn’t living a life that pleased Him. Sure, I was doing a lot of stuff that kept me busy learning about Him, but I had no relationship with Him. My prayers, or my complaining I should say, never moved God because complaining is not praying. God was already aware of my situations, He was just waiting for me to learn how to pray and praise Him before He would move on my behalf.
In The Hour The Changes the World, author Dick Eastman teaches on effective prayer that will move God. If we dedicate ourselves to one hour of prayer each day which includes, Praise, Waiting, Confession, Scripture Praying, Watching, Intercession, Petition, Thanksgiving, Singing, Meditation, Listening, and end with Praise again, we will see our world and the world around us change. When I began to dedicate my life to praying this way, my situations changed and so did my surroundings.
It would be so easy to simply glide through our Christian lives, but if we want uncommon favor from God, we must dedicate uncommon sacrifice to Him – first.
